Well, I did it! Following Rachel Anne’s “1-2-3” suggestion — and reporting back — as promised, I actually got our front-door wreath refurbished and hung up. I won’t give you the blow-by-blow, but I do have photographic proof…
Here is the wreath BEFORE refurbishing, just as it looked when I pulled it from its “lawn & leaf” storage bag. I had made the word “JOY” from a bike freewheel sprocket and wooden letters, and hung it from the spokes with some old gift-wrap ribbon. However, the hot-glue kept popping off. When I got the wreath out the “Y” was tangled in the holly and I found the “J” in the bottom of the bag.
Here is the new, improved wreath. This time I used more greenery, and stapled picture-hanging wire to the back of the “J” and “Y” so I could attach each letter to the spokes.
And finally, the finished product hanging from our front door:
…and to all a good night.
Thanks for reading,
PS: Of course I am linking up with Rachel Anne again, for some Company Girls Coffee.
Hey, you did a great job on that wheel. Very clever idea for a biking family.
Eric and Heather called today. They are excited about their trip. I’m doing OK.
Love to all,
Hi, Mom! Thanks… my floral skills get a bit rusty, but it was fun.
LOVE THE WHEEL!!! It looks beautiful AND personal, since it reflects your interests and creative flair! It’s a lovely surprise twist on the traditional wreath…well done!
Hey, Rachel, That means a lot coming from an art pro such as yourself.
Thank you, friend!
It turned out great!! I love that it is customized to your fam. We haven’t had a wreath yet, although I got a fabric one from Dayspring to review, but would love to make one that is customized to our fam too.
Hi, Joyce! Thanks for the comment. We stole the idea years ago from a commercial. Naturally, Brent had an old spare bike wheel in the attic!
What would you put on your wreath to represent your family? You all are busy with so many activities!
Ours would be something music-related. 🙂 Merry Christmas!
Jan…you always crack me up when you visit my page (the floss comment made me guffaw out loud). I adore your creative and so very personal wreath!!! You are so creative and talented! I have missed many of your posts recently (sorry), so I am happy to have read your today! Love, hugs and I wish you a very Merry Christmas!
Thanks, Dionne! I doubt you missed many posts, though… I went about five weeks without posting anything! Love and hugs right back, friend! And a much-blessed Christmas, too.
nice personal touch on the bike wreath and a great idea!
