Guess what: Today, March 2, is Texas Independence Day. That day in 1836 is when Texas declared independence from Mexico and became its own republic. About ten years later it became the 28th state in the Union, but some of that independent attitude remains. . .
If there’s anything Texans are more proud of than the sheer size of the state, it’s that distinctive Lone Star flag. A friend who’d moved from Missouri said she couldn’t get over how many state flags she saw.
Once I started looking, I began to realize they are everywhere. I started taking pictures of the state flag in every form I could find, mostly around our town.
I’ll just post some examples and leave them here for you to admire.
Or to roll your eyes at… your call.

See what I mean? And this collection doesn’t even include the plumbers’ trucks, Special Ops vehicles, lawn service trailers, and Port-a-john service trucks I saw but couldn’t catch because I was driving or they got away too fast for me to get the shot.

I am a native Texan and am proud of the men who fought so bravely for that flag. I do not have any of the flags flying at my home or on my car, but I do smile at every one of the interesting flags of Texas!

I’m a transplant myself, but Texas (with all its quirks) has really grown on me. Thanks for stopping by!

7th generation Texan here. I love the Texas flag! One of my bucket list quilts is a Texas Flag surrounded by wild flowers. Can’t get any more Texan than that.
