Bike Across Italy, Part One

We’ve been at it again… Brent and I joined six other guests and two expert Ciclismo Classico guides for a bike tour that meandered across the middle of Italy’s boot, from the Adriatic coastal town of Pesaro on the east, to Talamone, on the Tyrrhenian Sea (Mediterranean) coast on the west.

I’m still processing the stories. So for now, I’ll share a few of my favorite photos from the tour.

…just right for refreshing some tired feet!

We made new friends and memories and ate unconscionable quantities of pasta and gelato. This was a real “bucket-list” trip for Brent, and I had a great time too–whether I was cycling or hitching a ride in the support van and taking pictures. Or shopping!

Many of the hills were super long and challenging, but I’d requested an electric motor-assist “ebike” for this tour. Next time I’ll share my experience with that. Hint: think “learning curve.”

Your Turn: What is your favorite travel destination? Favorite mode of seeing the sights? I welcome your comments in the box (or “Leave a comment” link) at the bottom of this post.

Thanks for reading!

Tailwinds,

Jan

About Jan C. Johnson

Welcome! If you like food, reading, laughing over life's little disasters, and maybe thinking about the bigger things of life, you have come to the right place. Besides blogging, I write humorous fiction, though real life tends to leave fictional humor in the shade. But I'm not a total goofball. No, really. I'm also working on a biography project. I live in North Texas with my husband, Brent. We enjoy bicycling, Mexican food, and traveling to visit our kids and grandkids.

David and I just got back from Minnesota. We drove through Oklahoma, Kansas, Iowa, and Missouri. David does not like to fly, so he drove. The GREEN trees, grass, and crops were so incredibly green! We could see for miles in many places, and oh, the hills and mountains, the BLUE lakes and rivers! It was just beautiful. There are many other places in the U.S. I would like to see, but that will have to wait until retirement–December of this year!!!!!

    Hi Jan,
I really enjoyed your photos and comments. Well done! Have never ventured into “blog land” myself, but all of our travels have ended up as albums on Facebook with travelogue-like commentary and captions. Jean and I like to balance U.S. destinations with family and international adventures. We’ve only been together since 2010 but have enjoyed 3-4 trips a year since then. Favorites have included Colorado mountains, Yellowstone, Oregon coast & mountains, northern California, New England coast, Italy, Spain, and Ireland. Hoping to explore New Zealand in November 2023!
